Athletes have benefitted from sports and remedial massages, however anyone can benefit from a sports massage. Sports massage incorporates a wide range of differing techniques dependant on the therapist resulting in a bespoke treatment for each individual client. A selection of tests and movements can be done easily to identify problem areas and joint mobility.
Trauma, repetitive and strenuous physical activity may develop into imbalances and go undiagnosed until they are serious enough to cause pain or affect every day life or sports performance.
Trigger point consists of concentrated pressure on the areas of muscle spasm. Once applied to the muscle spasm, the pressure should not vary until the muscle starts to relax. A trigger point is a hyper-irritable or hyper-sensitive point in the muscle that refers pain or triggers pain to areas that may seem totally unrelated.
Positional Release is a precise but gentle technique, by positioning your body to take tension away from the area, a subtle and stress free way to bring relief to your body.
Soft Tissue Release is a form of assisted stretching that is safe and effective although not suitable for clients with hyper mobility. STR may be used before, during or after a massage treatment or as a treatment in itself. Stretching soft tissues improves flexibility and posture, alleviates muscle tension and takes pressure off associated joint structures. STR can be useful where clients need to stretch muscles but cannot take joints through a full range of motion. Many clients also enjoy the sensation of STR and are happy to have it incorporated into their massage routines.
Muscle Energy techniques are generally classified as a osteopathic manipulative treatment in which the client’s muscles are actively used on request, from a precisely controlled position, in a specific direction and against a distinctly executed counterforce. MET’s can be used to improve flexibility, improving the ‘normal’ range of motion of a joint.
Manipulative techniques for the spine, thorax and pelvis are commonly performed for the treatment of pain and dysfunction. Before any treatment is carried out to our clients, we have to consider if there are any contraindications present that might cause an injury or potentially make the underlying problem worse.
What to expect after treatment
Following a sports massage, any soreness that presents itself should fade after twenty-four to thirty-six hours. The muscles that were tight should remain noticeably more relaxed for four to fourteen days, depending on stress, activity level, and severity of pain prior to beginning massage therapy.

Facial Massage and Sinus Pressure Massage together to help with tension in the face, neck, head and jaw. Helping to relieve sinus pressure that builds up resulting in headache, nasal congestion, and pain in the forehead or at various points around the teeth, eyes, ears, cheeks, and neck, depending on which sinuses are affected.
Sinusitis is caused by either a viral or bacterial infection that spreads to the sinuses from the nose. An upper respiratory infection such as the flu or the common cold are the most frequent causes of sinusitis. The other possibilities for sinusitis is swimming in contaminated water, infection from abscesses in the upper teeth or irritation from air pollutants, dust, or tobacco smoke.
Your sinuses consist of 8 air pockets, 4 pairs and are located above, behind, and below the eyes and are connected to the inside of the nose. Sinusitis is an inflammation of one or more of these cavities, usually because of a bacterial or viral infection.
One function of the sinuses is to produce mucus, which helps pick up and flush out invading particles, bacteria, and air pollutants. However, once a cavity becomes irritated because of a cold, flu, or an allergy attack, the mucous membrane that lines the sinus typically swells abnormally, blocking the drainage channels that permit normal mucus flow. (The mucous membrane in the sinuses is the same as that of the nose, so whenever the nose is infected, the sinuses are also generally involved.)
My massaging, applying pressure point massage and sinus movements in all of these areas takes pressure away and helps to clear the infection, any hot compress to the nose and sinus areas helps blood flow too which helps increase the cilia movement.

Reflexology is a complementary therapy, which facilitates the healing of the whole person and not just the symptoms of illness or stress. By working on specific points of the feet, which correspond to organs and structures, the body is encouraged to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.
Reflexology has been shown to be effective for hormonal imbalances, PMT and menopause but also back pain, migraine, headaches, arthritis, sleep disorders, digestive disorders, circulatory problems, help remove toxins from the body and invaluable in palliative care.
Reflexology is a pressure massage applied to the feet in order to stimulate the reflex points and bring about a balance of the bodily systems in order for the body to work together in harmony and unison, creating a feeling of well being and optimum health.
Regular reflexology can help with relaxation, rebalancing, decongesting, improving circulation in the body, improving nourishment in the tissues and improved elimination of body toxins.
After one or two treatments your body may respond in a definite way, a sense of wellbeing and relaxation, sometimes lethargic or tearful, but this is transitory and is a part of the healing process.
